Credit: STFC ISIS Neutron and Muon Source<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Andrew McCluskey leads the <a href=\"https:\/\/scams-research.github.io\/\">SCAMs@bristol group<\/a>, which uses mathematical and simulation approaches to improve the analysis of neutron-scattering data.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, this focused on improving observables that are derived from simulation.<\/p>\n<p>He is now expanding this scope to explore how classical and machine learning interatomic potential simulations can be used to improve the information obtained from quasi-elastic neutron scattering measurements.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Alongside traditional research, I am keen on communicating the science that ISIS does as widely as possible.<\/p>\n<p>The Springboard Award will enable me to establish new analysis approaches for neutron spectroscopy, helping other ISIS users maximise the information that they can obtain.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Understanding molecular interactions in liquids<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_181748\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-181748\" class=\"wp-image-181748 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/STFC-140126-CamillaDiMino-UniversityofOxford.jpg\" alt=\"A woman wearing safety glasses standing in front of a machine\" width=\"300\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ukri.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/STFC-140126-CamillaDiMino-UniversityofOxford.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ukri.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/STFC-140126-CamillaDiMino-UniversityofOxford-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-181748\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Camilla Di Mino, University of Oxford. Credit: STFC ISIS Neutron and Muon Source<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Camilla Di Mino&#8217;s research focusses on gaining a fundamental understanding of competitive intermolecular interactions and solvation patterns in liquids.<\/p>\n<p>She primarily uses total and inelastic neutron scattering in combination with classical modelling to disentangle subtle molecular mechanisms arising from the complexities of multi-body systems.<\/p>\n<p>Camilla said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Springboard Award will be a key step for establishing myself as a leader, towards my career goal of running a group in a leading UK university where neutrons play a central role.<\/p>\n<p>This award will facilitate my ongoing work as an ambassador for neutron science in the UK and overseas.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Growing quantum material crystals<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_181890\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-181890\" class=\"wp-image-181890\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/STFC-140126-DanielMayoh-UniversityofWarwick-1.jpg\" alt=\"A man with glasses stood in front of a machine.\" width=\"300\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ukri.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/STFC-140126-DanielMayoh-UniversityofWarwick-1.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.ukri.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/STFC-140126-DanielMayoh-UniversityofWarwick-1-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.ukri.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/STFC-140126-DanielMayoh-UniversityofWarwick-1-490x735.jpg 490w\" sizes=\"auto, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-181890\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Daniel Mayoh.
