This may be described in a variety of ways: co-production, collaboration or participant and public involvement.<\/p>\n<p>For researchers, this can mean working in partnership with participants in a project, patients, carers and service users, as well as people from the wider society, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>public policymakers<\/li>\n<li>charities, voluntary, community and social enterprise groups<\/li>\n<li>businesses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Involving individuals with an interest in the project who bring a diversity of ideas, opinions, knowledge and people improve the research, and help it to bring about positive change for society and the economy.<\/p>\n<p>For members of the public who work with researchers, co-production offers an opportunity to shape research and make it more relevant to their needs and the needs of the communities they live in.<\/p>\n<p>Co-production can take place throughout a research project or other research and innovation-related activity. It may include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>identifying research questions<\/li>\n<li>design and priority-setting<\/li>\n<li>governance<\/li>\n<li>co-delivery of research activities<\/li>\n<li>communication of key findings<\/li>\n<li>involvement in knowledge exchange<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Research benefits from including people from within and outside the research community in a process of shared learning.
